Garabed Eknoyan, M.D. Professorship in Nephrology
Dr. Garabed Eknoyan is retiring in 2020 from more than 52 years of dedicated service to Baylor College of Medicine. During his unparalleled career he served as Chief of the Renal Section at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and as Chief of Renal Service and as Chief of Medicine at Ben Taub General Hospital. As a leader, educator, and clinician he touched countless lives and helped launch numerous successful careers. As a leader in the greater nephrology community, he recognized the lack of clinical guidelines and founded both the national K/DOQI and the global KDIGO guideline efforts. Together we will continue Dr. Eknoyan’s legacy here at Baylor by enhancing the Section of Nephrology’s training and research programs through the endowment of the Garabed Eknoyan, M.D., Professorship in Nephrology.
